Once at the cutting edge of technology and communication, letterpress printing was pushed to the brink of extinction by the very revolution it engendered. Faster and cheaper methods of printing were devised and implemented. And now many of those methods are falling away too, as more and more of our lives have become exclusively digital.
In the process, we have begun to recognize that some things—important things—ought to be given a chance to exist in the real world. And often we notice that these physical things carry far more meaning and emotional energy when they are made by hand, with an abundance of care and attention.
